It's not like WCG needs a boost. Most of the top 20 WCG teams don't even join the WCG challenges. In the last WCG challenge, participating teams crunched 13,340,720 credits while the total crunched for WCG during that time was 437,594,876. The challenge was 3% of the total crunching. Now don't get me wrong. WCG is a worthy project, but I think there are other worthy projects that don't get as much support and I wish more challenges were issued for them.

I've always thought of comps as a one off boost for projects, or an introduction to a new project or app etc. Not really a lot of interest in doing the same comps on the same projects against the same people from the same teams every month. Goes for the GPUGrid monthly effort and the constant Seti comps. WCG and Seti are the two largest projects user wise and really don't need the boost or the exposure. I would imagine very few people actively switch projects for these comps.
Regardless though, I'm not going to censor comps. TSBT takes part in all comps and I will continue to post them up. Up to individuals or a team decision whether they / we compete or not.

Very true, whatever we do is up to us as an individual and also as a team, at the end of the day.
Nobody can tell us what to crunch, apart from Scole
I suppose there's only a few of us who have the time and/or inclination to change projects all the time to try and quell our competitive streaks  And that's probably across the whole boinc world never mind our team.
Your right Alez, I think it would be better if the comps were aimed at the newer/smaller projects or where there is new jobs/tasks etc and to try and share the crunching power around a bit more.
Maybe we as a team should try and pick a few less popular projects and get a few comps on the go?

One of the good things about the WCG comps is that I think it probably does push us as a team forward a bit. Since WCG is such a monster of a project its the one that we struggle to keep a good position in, especially being such a small team.
I know I could do with spending a bit more time on it but I seem to jump from one comp to the next and never seem to get very far with my list, although that's entirely my choice :?

Sorry for the ridiculously long post!
Tl:Dr crunch whatever you want, when you want :D

This was my point a year or so ago about us choosing which comps to take part in.

 I could've saved all that typing if I'd payed attention last year then, sorry Janos!

Maybe we should go with that idea then.

Joining challenges that help us keep projects in the top 100 (or help get them there) or one time boost to smaller/newer projects to help create interest in them?

Perhaps even creating challenges that help you -TSBT- keep projects in the top 100 (or help get them there) or one time boost to smaller/newer projects to help create interest in them?

Got a project in mind ? I'm sure TSBT or Anguillan Pirates can accommodate :D

Janos you know the story behind why we can't choose which comps to crunch on. Besides it probably is better we enter all comps and choose whether to crunch them than have one person decide on a comp by comp case whether to enter or not.

I think it's great we enter all the comps and everyone decides which ones they want to crunch on. I was just baiting Janos into agreeing with the former reason, then shame him into joining WCG during the challenges :P

I'm not done with you though Alez. This "GPUGrid crashes my systems...". Are we going to have to send the Geek Squad over? :D

Sphynx[BlackOps], we have multiple issues in Aberdeen.

For those who don't read all the posts, this is a running joke about pressure to crunch challenges. Unless you've signed the articles to join the Anguillan pirates, there is no pressure to crunch anything except what you want to crunch. Just having fun here... :joker:

Feel free to nip over and fix my systems. At the moment you are closer to them than I am.
What time will I tell the boy to expect you ? :P

Buy me a ticket in business class to Aberdeen and set me up an account somewhere to buy hardware. I'll pop over and have everything up and running in no time. :thumbleft:

And I apologize for a weak effort on this WCG challenge. We do need to continue to boost WCG. I put my droids on it, but got kind of focused on some projects in the Formula BOINC challenge.

I love my droids too. The rk3288 android tv boxes are running well and the price is slowly coming down on them.
