About Van Der Waerden Numbers
Today (2/2/2021) we have re-launched the project following acceptance for publication of a paper on our previous phase (see arxiv). Our research objectives in phase 2 are to focus on the two-color case, for which we have found several improvements in memory and compute efficiency. The last iteration of the project found 12 new bounds, and the current one should find about 5. Strange properties in our best primes have caused us to save the results for each prime (in short, the best primes p seem to be such that p-1 has few factors). You can monitor our development progress and view frequently asked questions here and post to the message boards or message me (id=1) with any problems. You can also check our latest bounds here and the last prime used here.
Van Der Waerden Numbers is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to find better lower bounds for these numbers. The bold numbers in the table below are bounds improved or discovered by this project. You can participate by downloading and running a free program that runs on your computer when you're not using it. To participate, Download and run BOINC, and add Project 'vdwnumbers.org'. It only works with Windows and Linux computers. You can also Read our rules and policies. This is a project of Daniel Monroe.

Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU 440.00
Linux running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU 440.00
If you get v430.00 tasks, dump them as they will not validate against v440.00 tasks.

You can expand it to "tasks will not validate against task that do not have the same version number" IMHO

Exactly as
@Dirk Broer says. Current version is v440.00 . If you get any tasks that are not the current version, dump them as the only way they will validate against a task of the same version and on the same operating system. V440.00 is supposed to fix all those issues.

Isn't this the project that was being run by students at a "high school"?

That sounds more like "Briseur de Code" (code breakers). They still have a
facebook page

Here is a post from 2015 ... he wasn't in high school yet
About Van Der Waerden Numbers
Van Der Waerden Numbers is a research project of 123Numbers.org that uses Internet-connected computers to find better lower bounds for these numbers. You can participate by downloading and running a free program that runs on your computer when you're not using it. To participate, Download and run BOINC, and add Project '123Numbers.org'. It only works with Windows computers (without Avast) and with Linux computers. You can also Read our rules and policies. This is a project of
Daniel Monroe, who is a student at Takoma Park Middle School.
Takoma Park Middle School student Daniel Monroe
a middle school student running a BOINC project, if the student doesn't have any help then, yes there will be lots of problems.
give the kid a break, ok.....

Does anyone know more about the status of this project?

It looks like it's kinda up, but the server is throwing lots of errors and no work available.

There seem to be two websites:
- http://www.vdwnumbers.org/ that throws a lot of errors and
- http://www.123numbers.org/ that doesn't do that
the latter has 3 Jan 2016 as nine days ago though....

I think 123 numbers was the original website when the project first started. The message board there gives 404 errors now.
The vdw numbers site is a mess of a very sad server barely hanging together. I can only guess that the admin isn't active on the project just now. Probably yet another project that will fade away in a whimper.

Initially, the admin was very responsive when the project resurfaced. Not so much now...actually not at all. It's worth watching, but I'm not hopeful for it resurfacing a 3rd time. Fortunately I got my million there while it was still working.
