Tried to start this project again but can't get a single system to connect to the project.
All systems give error
19/05/2016 15:25:05 | Gerasim@home | Invalid request received. Cannot load request into xml-document. The 'venue' start tag on line 105 position 2 does not match the end tag of 'global_preferences'. Line 124, position 3.

tried changing global prefs on project, detach, reset etc to no avail.
I do see that my default setting for computers is venue - home rather than default but that is greyed out in my pref choice so can't change. I have set preferences for both default and home.
Running out of ideas, anybody else seen this and how do you fix ?

All I had in the global_prefs.xml file was a section for WGC and it was missing the last </venue> tag. You could try adding that to the file. I just deleted everything between <global_preferences> and </global_preferences> tags and saved the file.

Cheers mate, that did the trick. Now I just need to see if I get any units to munch.
I did try the fix on the Gerasim site but that didn't work.

What Gerasim recommended
This problem occurs because of an incorrect XML format for global settings in several BOINC projects (WCG, etc). You need:
1. Change global settings to correct (for example, http://gerasim.boinc.ru -> logon -> Project prefs -> Update preferencies).
2. Update global prefs under BOINC Manager (for example, via main menu).
3. Delete Gerasim@home project
4. Add Gerasim@home project
5. Enjoy

Be sure to set your project prefs to download the max number of WUs. They run quick. About a minute on a 660ti and tahiti.

Is that Workunits per host per day: on the project prefs ? It says 100 is the most. Will keep an eye on it if / once they start.

My prefs were from wuprop so I guess that can be added as another project gerasim doesn't play nice with. Seems like they expect you to do a lot of messing about just to run their project. Never seen this error on any other project.

I set WU per host per day to 8000, Max tasks in progress to 128 and Send no more than 64 each time. The WUs run out faster than you think.

BTW, in XML fix they posted, I think they meant to do that process for whatever project had the corrupt global prefs, which is WCG here recently.

I just went in and changed the "run on battery" setting on WuProp and then hit update WuProp on each machine. Then Gerasim was happy and the .xml error message went away. I started getting work at that point.

I tried changing the settings in both Gerasim and in WUprop to no avail. Deleting the contents of global_prefs.xml like scole suggested worked for me. All my systems use local prefs anyway so that should work fine for me. Got some units, waiting to get any validated.

and now it wont give me any units not impressed so far

If you are running CPU tasks then try suspending all of those and then hit update on Gerasim. I had one machine that I had to do that several times to get WU before it finally decided to work correctly. Once yout WU are for Gerasim you can resume the CPU tasks.

I had to set cache to at least 1 day. Had to go full 10/10 on the machines with the WCG bunkers.

I think their server is down, can't get to it from NC anyway. Nope, it's back online.

Kinda agree, seems to have very weird project schedular policy on actually getting any units. You need to have C++ redist 2013 installed or all go invalid and it doesn't send any more units. First send seems to be 8 in total. Really not worth the effort of jumping through their hoops.

How do you do that on a Linux box? C++ redist 2013 is short for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013...

Gerasim is windows only. It does not have, or at least report a Linux application on it's page.
That would explain why all your units are invalid, but it should not have sent you any work. It should have reported no units available for you application type. Seems the server side of the project is just not set up correctly.

I have Windooz boxes too -with C++ redist 2013 and 2015- , but it seems they do not like IGP based crunching - my IGPs are not detected for whatever reason

Does the BoincClient not see it or just Gerasim?

Just the Gerasim WUs. If I look at my systems on my Gerasim account page the various IGPs clearly show.

Update the project on BoincClient and see what's in the log. Does it report any reason for not downloading WUs?
