It's about time we had a new competition, and it was too good an opportunity to miss, so here it is. :)

Guess when we'll hit 100 million credits...

Due to the addition of 'predictors' on all the stats sites the rules are a smidge different...

Competition is open to all actively crunching members of The Scottish Boinc Team. (Must be active throughout the competition.)
Guesses can be made and altered until we pass 95million. (As declared by me in this thread!)
Guesses will consist of a date and hour (GMT) which will cover from xx:00 to xx:59
- -> e.g. 10th of June @ 22:00 - would cover 10pm until 10:59pm on the tenth.
Final time will be when the first team member spots that BoincStats has us over 100million and posts in this thread.
Closest to the correct time(band) will win a Â£10 booze voucher.

I think the effect of summer heat and holiday shutdowns may slow us down a tad. So, I'm going with an initial guess of September 21st at 11am

Okay here's my no doubt soon to be revised guess.

Like Nightlord I think the summer heat will soon force even the keenest of us to make comprimises. The holidays aren't so bad if you're away and no one is in the house to suffer heat stroke!

When my daughter moved out I converted her old room into a farm.
Need to buy a fan though to try and waft some air round the room though.
Room is about 12ft x 5ft and contains 4 quads, laptop and a PS3!
Heat does kind of take your breath away when you open the door LOL even with the window open!

At 94.7 Million this competition will close soon so get your revisions in soon!

The credit crunch on Cosmology & Einstein & the disappearance of Reiselseive has affected our output (in common with the rest of the Boinc community*) and so I'm altering my guess to something marginally less optimistic

9th September @ 22:00hrs (it's still PDG!)

(*Our absolute production has dropped but relatively speaking we are doing very well with a ranking by RAC of 40th in the world).

It's basically taken this team years to get to 100mm, BUT, if you look at the current RAC , we do a million every 4 days. Thats 91.5MM in a year. Now, if we add in the current push with PS3, which has yet to peak, we should be able to do another 100MM within a year. A challenge to all team members, lets do 100MM in the next 365 days. That's only 1MM every 3.65 days or 274K a day. . Target date, September 7th, 2009.

When I checked just now (15:59 BST) Boincstats showed us as having:

I know; I really should get out more, but what the heck: did you know that 1 Cobblestone = 8.64 x 10^11 flops, so 100 Million Cobblestones = 86,400,000,000,000,000,000 floating point operations.
