Rockchip (in Chinese 瑞芯微电子, transliterated Ruì xīn wéi diànzǐ, which Google translate recognizes as 'Rockchip Microelectronics'), in full Fuzhou Rockchip Electronics Co., Ltd. (in Chinese 瑞芯微电子股份有限公司, transliterated Ruì xīn wéi diànzǐ gǔfèn yǒuxiàn gōngsī, which translates as 'Rockchip Microelectronics Co., Ltd.') is a Chinese fabless semiconductor company based in Fuzhou, Fujian province. Due to their evolution from the MP3/MP4 player chips most Rockchip SoCs feature media decoding logic, but lack integrated cellular radio basebands. Their products started to get interesting with the advent of the 40 nm multi-core RK3000 series and really kicked off once they got produced on 28 nm.
