I expect I'll have a few questions as I get into it. How many folks are BOINCing on Linux machine(s)?

I run my servers on linux unless I need to run a project which runs only on or better on windows, which are few. Gerasim only runs on windows. Sometimes optimized apps run better or only available under windows, initially any way. They are all dual boot systems.

All my servers are Linux and most of my desktops with nVidias are Linux to. Specifically Lubuntu of various flavours.
I tend to only run win 7 for the machines that have AMD GPU's.

I tend to use Xeon-based machines as personal workstations using Linux Mint. Maybe a little unorthodox but I do like having lots of cores available. I like lots of RAM too and ECC is normally a fair bit cheaper.

Most of my results are from a twin processor Xeon e5-2609v3 so not exactly awash with cores. The reason it gets decent results is that I can crank up the usage without the fan noise becoming intrusive in a home office setting
