Are we going all in on this one?

As it's a team challenge we called, would be rude not to. I'm in if possible.Janos wrote:Are we going all in on this one?

Yep! ...always assuming I survive Xmas. Not sure how I've managed so far.Alez wrote:As it's a team challenge we called, would be rude not to. I'm in if possible.Janos wrote:Are we going all in on this one?

I'll give it a go.
I'll try and get my timing right this time for some bunkering!

What he said!!
Seriously, I'm planning to suspend all other projects after Xmas (to have time to run down work) and will stockpile a couple of days worth of work before killing all comms until the new year. Not a massive input in team terms, but I'm doing what I can.

I've been requesting WU's for a day or two now and so far I've received none.

Unfortunately, I think we've come in late on this one. The Malaria stuff is finished. They'll be starting up the TB runs next year but it is unlikely we'll see anything before late January. Looks like Alez is onto it and sorting things out with Ant... so he will probably announce something soon.

Ant is hoping to have a load of control structures and ligands ready for docking before then. If it's not going to be ready in time then we will move the date of the competition to coincide with the launch of the TB side of the project as at the moment this is simply going to be run under the FM@H banner rather than setting up a new project.

It's been over 28 years since I got my medical degree. But as of 1985 Malaria was not Tuberculosis. Infectious diseases are not my speciality but even as an aging psychiatrist, albeit one fortified by full access to Wikipedia, I'm pretty sure the two are still rather different entities. Moreover as a fully time served pedant I hereby give notice that either they should set up a separate FTB@H or else rebrand it as NastyInfections@Home however off-putting this may be to squeamish crunchers.

Jeesh, someone's not full of crimbo spirit.... It is this way just now as otherwise they have to set up a whole new project and duplicate everything.... don't shoot the messenger
Despite making excuses for them, I quite like the idea of a project called NastyInfections@Home, just don't tell the missus what you're working on

NastyInfections@Home sounds great to me... I'm sure it'll attract all kinds of bugs and things that go bump in the night...

Unfortunately I have had word from Ant at the project that they have not been able to get the TB project ready in time for our challenge. He has asked that we reschedule the challenge for 1/2/14.
Sorry guys, we'll just have to wait a bit longer.

I've officially asked BS Willy if this can be deleted.
It looks as though FM@H will be back on from mid January so should we go with maybe a Big Burn's Boinc Bash to Beat Bad Bugs sort of thing (I'm open to alternative suggestions as to the name) running from 25th January?

We could probably spin out the alliteration by adding a Bobbie in there. :)

Good idea. I see the poetic spirit has not completely died out in Scotland... 8)Megacruncher wrote:We could probably spin out the alliteration by adding a Bobbie in there. :)
Keep going and I'll see if it can be scored for orchestra, foghorn, espresso coffee machine and narrator in the next Interplanetary Music Festival. Might be a little tricky persuading Dame Edith to drop in and do the narrator bit though...

"Bobbie Burn's Big Birthday Boinc Bash to Beat Bad Bugs!"
Would do as a title but with just a week to go there is no news of any sort from the project so I am loath to set up the challenge just in case it is another non-starter.

Hey guys. Things have been fairly hectic around here which is why I've not been on much. I have been keeping an eye on the project though, ready to throw something together at a sign of life, but thought along the same lines as Mega - don't really want another abortive attempt!
Things are settling down again so I should be able to get back to the old ritual, checking in daily or more.
