Just thought I'd point out, while we all wait for more work units, that the team is currently sitting in 37th place (out of 355) with a huge 0.004 credits. :)

Thanks to Snowdog for managing to grab 8 of the pre-test work units and getting half of them back in time.

The work they sent out was a quick study (a few thousand w/u) to check on the functionality of one piece of their overall program - the random sequence generator.

I think they are now looking at the results from this to see which types of machine can be compared (produce the same sequence) and which can't. At the same time, they are developing the full application for distribution.

The best part of the news is that part of their funding means that at least two of them are full time on the project, so things should happen. :)

Just downloaded first w/u for orbit on windows. We'll see how it goes. Estimated completion time is 81hours for this one, and judging from the boards, there may be problems restarting these after switching between projects. Should be interesting.

Just completed about 5 w/u's They run for about 1 hr 20 on a quad and you get 22 credits or about 15/hr. Everything seems to run just fine.
If it's stable, I'll be moving resources over there. These w/u's seem to be the real thing, not just infrastructure testers.

Just thought I'd post an update as to what is going on with Orbit.

I just finished 2 w/u's. They run for a very long time.

267:42:43 (thats 267 hours) Claimed credit 4218.66
272:17:30 (yup 272 hours) Claimed credit 4187.53
Orbit is paying the David Anderson bare minimum (15 credits/hr). He must have them under his foot. There is no trickle system so crunch at your own risk. The quorum is 2.

It's a shame because the science is great. Each w/u does a 10 or 20 year study of a patch of sky looking for near Earth orbit stuff.

I guess the biggest risk would be a comp error problem.

I've got about 8 w/u's crunching.
One has reported with the following
739,610.30 5,849.15 pending
which is 205 hours.
Like you say trickles would be good as it's a hell of a lot to lose if there's an error after a couple of hundred hours crunching.

Maybe we are wingmen for each other. I still have 3 to crunch. This next one looks to be around 200 hours, lots faster than the first 2.
I'm only running them 1 at a time.

I got one on each machine.
Then once I realised how long they took and without trickles I've set it to no new tasks.
Once these are finished I'll reassess if I continue with this project or not.
