#1 What countries/regions have you surpassed?

Post by ZOC999 »

I recently passed Samoa and the Central African Republic, and I'm closing in on Djibouti:

Looking at TSBT's best, I see that Megacruncher has surpassed Antarctica and is approaching Tokelau. Amazingly, TSBT as a whole has passed Turkey and is closing on India!

What nations/regions are you as an individual in a close race with?

No doubt the blockade related power cuts in the West Bank helped you there! :)

The impressive thing is the number of rich functioning countries that TSBT are well ahead of: Singapore & Luxembourg for instance.

And, as for myself creeping up on Tokelau (I think I must have missed that lesson when I was doing my higher geography in 1979, or maybe it was called something else then :? ), that is nothing compared to the fact that my humble croft of home built PCs is kicking the butt of rich nations such as Saudi Arabia or Lichtenstein. Sadly, I think it just shows how poorly Boinc has tapped the reserve of unsed global computing resources, or to frame it more positively how much more might yet be done!

Tokelau (pronounced /ˈtoʊkəlaʊ/) is a territory of New Zealand that consists of three tropical coral atolls in the South Pacific Ocean. The United Nations General Assembly designated Tokelau a Non-Self-Governing Territory.[1]

Population 1449 as of 1993.

Not a bad credits/head of population really

Just having a nose at the stats and Tokelau are so high because out of 7 users one "history" amassed just over 7.5million Einstein credits, but doesn't look to have been active for quite a while now.
Highest other user has only 64k and there appears to be only one active user with 16k in credits he's 3rd.
So if it wasn't for history then Tokelau wouldn't be where they are.

I've got a calculator and I'm gonna use it. :D
If you take the totals of the 12 obviously Scottish teams from the UK top 500 and add their totals you get 135,634,789.
Which would put Scotland in 36th place between Romania and Bulgaria.
Of course there could be others but I just picked the 12 that were definately Scottish.
Should add of course that any individual user who wasn't part of a team but Scottish would add to this total as well.

I'm just past Libya and chasing Uganda in 180th place.

Judging by the traffic ahead (Mozambique & Tunisia) I'll be in Africa for months.

I know it's been said and attempted 1,000,000 times before, but it's a shame we can't "unite the clans" to form one uber Scottish Team.

The only nations to have managed this trick are the Germans and the French. Even the USA have multiple teams in the top 100.

In time it seems that in time a front runner emerges for each country and success begets success. I think that this is happening for us. There was a time a few years ago when Scotland were marginally beating us for RAC. Now we are beating them by a factor of 4 and the ratio is increasing.

Well done, all. Overtake those nations! :D

Interesting replies. I like FlyingfocRS's calculations, and the "unite the clans" business is appealing.

The world is a game board... :)
