A daily credit of 1044, I know it's not a lot to those who crunch that in an hour, but for me it's an achievement, must have been pending credit but who cares, another personal record broken. I think I'll give myself a pat on the back

Way to go FTO! :D

It matters not whether it's 1000 credit per hour, per day or per month: It's all worth celebrating and if it is a personal best, then so much the better!

If you want some advice on increasing your Seti output, just ask Willie - he's got the low-down on the best Seti optimised applications. They can speed up your crunching times significantly, with no hardware changes.

FTO - Great achievment. It all counts whether you do it in an hour, day or year. :D :D

I am being stupid I know I am :? but what is optimised Seti :?:
I will take any help and advice on how to improve my crunching power.
My next target is to be in the top 100 of TSBT only 18 places to go :P

Wise words. And well done to FTO-Par.

My current goal is to get at least 250k with Einstein.

But in the long term I confess I'd like to get into the top TSBT 20, if for no other reason than I won't have to scroll down so far to find myself the lists. But that won't be soon I'm afraid, if at all, with all these superheroes at the top of the list. Sigh.

Not stupid. It took me 4 years to become aware of it.

The standard seti application is designed to run on as wide a range of CPUs as possible. So it's reliable but not fast.

If you know how you can customise the app for a particular CPU. It then will do the same amount of work much more efficiently so your credit per day will rise.

The splendid fellow who has done this is calledCrunch3r and this is where you can download the optimised Seti applications.
The particular file you want for your 3800+ running 32 bit vista is called AK V8 Windows x32 SSE3 and you will be able to download it from this link.

Once you've dowloaded & unzipped it, just follow the instructions which say:

Installation of the optimized app is simple.
1)Stop BOINC service by "net stop boinc" command or exit from BOINC Manager if you're running it in single-user mode
2) Copy all files in the "Files to install" directory to your BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder.
There is a file called "app_info.xml" included that will make BOINC use this app automatically.
3) Restart BOINC service by "net start boinc" or reopen BOINC Manager if you're running it in single-user mode.

That's it, you're done! You can open your task manager to see that it's really the new optimized app crunching your WUs.

BOINC will tell you that it found app_info.xml and is using an "anonymous platform".

Good luck!

It's normally:
C:\Program Files\BOINC\projects
but may be
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\projects depending on the type of installation.

Will this just improve seti or all projects?

Just SETI@home, although some other projects have (used to anyway) optimised code available as well. I think Einstein was one, but can't think of any others atm.
