I've got over 500 pending. Strange thing is the units do not require a wingman, minimum quorum of 1, and the server page only states 44 tasks waiting to validate. And it's nearly constantly out of work.
Think there could be trouble at mill.

Three of my crunchers had no work early this morning.

All seem to be downloading new work now which infers an admin kicked the work generator when he woke up.

They also need to send more work. I keep getting idle cores, dammit.

The project only has one machine running every service and I am not sure they have a great deal of time to continually tune the systems.

Just moving the front end services like website, forums and upload/download service to another physical machine would have a dramatic effect on performance.

They also need to add a time out to the update button, like other projects do. If people have no work they will click update to request new work. The request new work script puts significant load on the server.

Again, just splitting the front end services from the back end services would make a huge amount of sense. They have the hardware to do this as they dedicate a 12 core HT Xeon to crunching tasks (24 at a time). Just assign that to running BOINC services and the project will run all the more happily.

Server is back up, but there is a distinct lack of work. I'm hoping this is just a catch up thing, and they'll be back fully operational before long!

Awesome. I'd wondered where all your credits were coming from. :D

With 3 days to go we seem to more or less have this won. What do you say we keep up the momentum and try and get as high as possible for this project? We are now 9th by total credit ( :wav:) & a clear 1st by RAC. 1st by TC might only take a few months.

The optimized app is running on half of my crunchers. I did some looking at Vina with a view of seeing if it could be run on Parallela before I was back working. I've not answered that question but if you could optimize Vina for the Parallela you are looking at something quite scary. Now that there is the aforementioned Polish optimized app I thought it best to write a nice guide.

I don't have much of an option of changing things so count me in!

I was hoping we would make the 1 million mark on this comp. We are not too far off it. How do you fancy kicking a few more cores at it?

The Aussies are gaining on us - they took 9th place from us - but aren't a real threat: they gained on us by 10K in the last 32 hrs and we are 72K ahead with just 47 hours left to run. Just in case I'll set 30 or so cores onto the job. Also I want to be sure of finishing in the top 10
