robmacagain, are you ready to put that 7990 through it's paces for a challenge? TSBT finished 5th of 31 in the last milkyway challenge and 4th of 21 just before that one. I think another TSBT team member with a 7990 would have given us a 3rd place finish in both. Maybe 2nd in one. You in?

Who's in? We have 14 TSBT members who have been crunching Milkyway in the past 24 hours. Let's hit it. Oh Rob...let's see what that tricked out rig can do :bounce:

Boinc scheduler being a pig as usual. Having my kit in the tech shed on dry land whilst I bob about the ocean is no fun

I'm hoping that mega has a stash on units to dump and that rob joins in and then we may have a chance at winning this. Wish my scheduler would hurry up and do what I want it to  Still 2nd place so far and scole #1 :D

I also notice that faerie is doing a sterling job in 37th and that Paul must also be squirreling away a bunker . Has anyone seen a Penguin around lately ?

Sorry to disappoint you Alez but there isn't any bunkering going on here, been a bit busy and haven't really got organised for this one.
Fingers crossed if and when the scheduler kicks in I should move over to milkyway :?
So hopefully I'll be able to help you boys out at some point today

Really annoyed that my system is unstable at the same time as a comp.

eh 4 ..... or more ..... eh, 10 ish .....
Since I'm not at home they are all running single units, no optimisation, so having to use brute force rather than efficiency  also since I don't know how many have picked up MW it may be 13 ish
How many is the guy in 1st place running
Welcome to finding the home of cut throat geek competition :D

Ok i am managing to get it to run but i have had to down clock and down volt, have found out the problem and its nothing to do with ulps, its heat  the gpu's are fine its the vrm's that's causing the problem when and if they top 120c they kick the cards regulator in and switch it off , having to place a 140mm fan of the backside of the card to keep them cooler and its only just doing it keeping at around 116c, its only milkyway that does this grrrr.

We seem to be pulling clear of SETI USA 8).

Is the waterblock making good contact with them? Thermal tape on them?

Yes good contact, yes thermal tape with mx2 under the tape, it only goes this high with this project, collatz is about 93c, i have no idea whats happening with it.

I find that milkyway is pretty tough on my card too Rob.
After a couple of minutes crunching I gain at least 5°C compared to collatz.

My 6990 system is exactly the same. MW being double precession drives the cards the hardest of all the GPU projects. In fact my 6990 system is down again for the 2nd time in 2 days and as you've noted it will have shut down on thermal protection. Hoping the boy gets out of his pit and reboots before he goes to school. :?

With a day left to go, we are miles ahead of Seti.USA and have no chance of catching Astronomy.Ru Forum. A good solid 3rd it is then :D All that's left to fight for is the individual positions in the comp. Keep it up everyone :boxing:

I cannae catch you or Schole coz you have to many gpu's (i only got 1  ok technically 2 but only 1 card), Janos had too much of a start on me so i can only get 1 of us, needed to see this comp 2 days earlier than i did grrr.

It looks to me that were collectively churning out more per hour than the pesky vodka swillers but we dont seem to have enough time left to get um :( .

But fae a wee band we is doing alright dont cha think??, i mean how many of us are partaking 5, that's ace.

No Collatz or Milkyway challenges on the schedule right now. Only thing in the near future is Seti challenges, but they seem to run constantly.

Live comps can always be found here...http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/viewforum.php?f=148

Pending comps here...http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/viewforum.php?f=149

Recently completed comps here...http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/viewforum.php?f=17

I'd take it for spin on what ever you wish. Racking up some Collatz credits is always helpful for overall team position. There's some other GPU projects that pay well too. Some PrimeGrid apps pay ok. Beware of Genefer (World Record). They take over 100 hours on my i7 cpu / 7970 gpu system.

Oh...and what does it take to rack up 16,000,000 Milkway credits in 4 days. Here's Recoil's computer list...http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/hos ... id=1020997

GPU list...
