Looks like Skywalker will join us on the competition. A few more entrants other than 3 Pirates would be great as we are crunching for TSBT. I will leave 2 cores of my laptop on Anguillan Pirates to keep it honest and I bet they will not be last
. If I can get my arse in gear tomorrow morning then I should have a 6 core FX6300 online too. Provided W7 plays ball. Going to name it Beagle in honor of the lander that did actually make it all the way to Mars after all.

Whew! PrimeGrid WUs finally finished and cores on Universe.

#5 Re: 19/1-26/1 Happy New Yarr Pirates Challenge - Universe@Ho
I've managed to screw up my timing and am still working through some WCG units
I'll get onto Universe soon though!

Letting the GPUs finish up Einstein WUs and will use those cores on Universe. Let's have a good showing on this challenge. :)

#8 Re: 19/1-26/1 Happy New Yarr Pirates Challenge - Universe@Ho
TSBT sitting 3rd and Anguillan Pirates sitting 7th from 9 teams.
scole of TSBT 5th
alez [ TSBT's Pirate ] 6th
Paul of TSBT 20th
Skywalker TSBT 24th
Hopefully by the end of the comp I will have passed 1 million on the project.
Anyone else joining us ?
Anguillan Pirate sitting 27th which is not bad for 2 cores on my i5 laptop .
keep up the good work everyone.

I'm sort of surprised by the lack of competitors. I suppose it shows how many folk swap over to do a comp on a less mainstream project. I think its safe to say that Universe is not a popular as: Seti, Einstein, and Pogs.
Maybe we should remember this for future challenges. A small team picking smaller projects might give us a better result and also give some help to the less popular projects.
Of yeah, go TSBT and the pirates :bounce:

Seems the project is very happy with the progress in the challenge so far. http://universeathometest.info/universe ... .php?id=43
If we can keep this up we should have TSBT 20th in the world by the end. If a few more join in we may even take 19th.
The new Linux app is also pretty good. My Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz is only being beaten by my i7's. Faster than my xeons and i5. Now that's aggressive optimisation.

Less than 2 days to go. SETI.USA and BOINC@Poland have 1st and 2nd secure and individual rank 1-6 locked in too. Alez has flexed his CPUs for 7th and I'm running as fast as I can to stay in 8th. Paul and Skywalker are inside the top 30. Megacuncher has joined in and is already in 39th. Now all we need is someone else to jump in and crunch 4,000,000 in the next day and half so we can take 1st.

I made my personal goal on this project as I have now passed 1 million, my 17th project to hit this milestone. Only Mega and Merlyn have more.

Well done :salute: and it looks like we've worn the server down and it's given up. Still a test project isn't it?

#14 Re: 19/1-26/1 Happy New Yarr Pirates Challenge - Universe@Ho
Looks like the admin has answered my post on the Universe forum and generated more work for the end of the challenge. Nice to see such a responds and reflects very well on how he runs the project. As I'm away just now not sure how many systems will pick up the new work and how many have been swamped by the backup projects kicking in.

TSBT finished a very respectable 3rd well ahead of the chasing pack but nowhere near SETI.USA or BOINC@Poland who were unstoppable.
Individually
alez [ TSBT's Pirate ] 7th
scole of TSBT 8th ( that's what happens when you poke too hard
)
Megacruncher TSBT 24th
Paul of TSBT 29th
Skywalker TSBT 31st
Anguillan Pirates was 9th from 10 with my alter ego Anguillan Pirate 46th. Not bad for 2 cores. So not last
